Jayesh Bhansali is a Managing Director, Head of Global Derivatives and Quantitative Fixed Income Portfolio Management for the TIAA organization. He is the lead Portfolio Manager of TIAA’s $32 bln Immediate Annuity (Payout) Portfolio. As a member of oversight committees he contributes to the Enterprise Risk Management function. Mr. Bhansali has more than 25 years of industry experience. He joined TIAA in 1996.

Regulators have sought his thought leadership on topics such as prudent use of derivatives, risk based capital provisioning and counterparty risk management. He has presented at various institutional investors’ conferences both in the US and overseas, on contemporary topics such as managing systemic risk, collateral transformation and optimization, the alpha / beta optimization, asset allocation under uncertainty, smart commodity beta strategies, credit derivatives and Liability Driven Investing. He has previously taught at Columbia Business School as an Adjunct Professor of Finance and presented as guest lecturer at NYU Stern Business School and Fordham University. He currently serves on the Advisory Committee for the CFA Institute’s Claritas Program and is also on the Board of Advisors for the University of Connecticut’s Masters in Financial Risk Management Program.

Mr. Bhansali has published articles in professional journals on wide ranging topics such as credit derivatives, interest rate and emerging markets equity risk management, and inflation-indexed bonds. He also contributed to the Counterparty Risk Management Policy Group’s report titled “Toward Greater Financial Stability: A Private Sector Perspective.” He co-authored a paper titled “Risk Management Challenges Facing Institutional Fiduciaries.

He is a member of the CFA Institute, the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, the Q Group and the New York Society of Security Analysts. Mr. Bhansali earned an M.S. in financial engineering from Polytechnic University (NYU-Poly), New York, and a B.Com with honors from the University of Mumbai. He holds the CFA and CAIA designation.
